GENERAL
What is Telemiq?

Telemiq is a rewards platform operated by Telemiq, with IT solutions provided by Summit Pixels Inc. that rewards Tesla owners for charging their vehicles at home. We connect to your Tesla through the official Fleet API, verify your home charging sessions, and credit you up to 5 points for every kilowatt-hour (Telemetry Mode: 5 pts/kWh | Standard Mode: 4 pts/kWh). It's that simple.

How does it work?

Connect your Tesla account, set your home location, and charge at home as you normally would. Telemiq automatically detects your charging sessions, verifies they happen at your registered home address using GPS geofencing, and credits your points. Points accumulate throughout the year. After the annual carbon credit audit completes in Q1 of the following year, your verified points become redeemable for cash via Interac e-Transfer.

Who can join?

Any Canadian resident who is 18 or older and owns or leases a Tesla vehicle. You'll need an active Tesla account and a Canadian bank account that accepts Interac e-Transfers. Both requirements are needed to verify your charging data and send you rewards.

Is it free?

Yes, Telemiq is completely free to join and use. There are no subscription fees, no hidden charges, and no costs to withdraw your earnings. We earn revenue through carbon credit aggregation under Canada's Clean Fuel Regulations, which funds your rewards.

Is it available outside Canada?

Currently, Telemiq is only available to Canadian residents. Our carbon credit aggregation operates under Canada's Clean Fuel Regulations (CFR), and our payment system uses Interac e-Transfer, which is a Canadian banking service. We may expand to other markets in the future.

REWARDS
How much do I earn?

You earn up to 5 points for every verified kilowatt-hour (kWh) of home charging (5 pts/kWh in Telemetry Mode, 4 pts/kWh in Standard Mode). Every 100 points is worth C$1.00. For example, if you charge 40 kWh in a week, you'd earn 160 points (C$1.60) in Standard Mode. The average Tesla owner charging at home can expect to earn approximately 600–1,200 points per month depending on their driving habits.

When do rewards appear in my account?

Rewards are typically credited within 24–48 hours after a charging session completes and passes verification. During peak periods or maintenance windows, there may be a slight delay. Points will appear in your balance as "pending verification" until the annual Q1 carbon credit audit is completed (January–March of the following year). You'll receive a notification each time a reward is credited to your balance.

What qualifies as home charging?

Home charging means charging your Tesla at your registered home address. The session must occur within your home geofence boundary (500m radius). You are eligible for rewards if: (1) you have a Tesla Wall Connector enrolled in your account, OR (2) you have Fleet Telemetry paired (virtual key) and your home location set in Settings > Home Location. Both Tesla Wall Connector (Gen 3 / Universal) and Tesla Mobile Connector sessions earn up to 5 pts/kWh (Telemetry Mode) or 4 pts/kWh (Standard Mode) when eligibility is met. Telemiq is the only EV charging rewards platform that supports both Tesla Wall Connector and Mobile Connector users. ⚠️ If you use a Mobile Connector, you must pair the telemetry virtual key and set your home location to qualify. ⚠️ If you use a non-Tesla charger (ChargePoint, FLO, etc.) that has its own carbon credit program, that provider may already claim credits for your sessions — the same data cannot be used by two programs. The vehicle's Battery Management System (BMS) acts as the accredited sub-meter, providing tamper-proof energy data directly to our server. Supercharger and DC fast-charging sessions still earn points — at half the standard rate (see Rewards).

How are rewards calculated?

Each verified charging session's energy delivery (in kWh) is multiplied by the applicable reward rate — 5 pts/kWh in Telemetry Mode or 4 pts/kWh in Standard Mode. The result is added to your Telemiq balance as integer points — no floating-point arithmetic. You can view a detailed breakdown of each session's point reward in your transaction history.

Is there a maximum amount I can earn?

There is no upper limit on how much you can earn. Your rewards are directly proportional to how much you charge at home. The more you charge at home, the more points you earn.

Do my rewards expire?

No, your rewards never expire. Your earned balance will remain in your account until you choose to redeem. However, points must be verified through the annual Q1 carbon credit audit (January–March of the following year) before they can be redeemed. There is no time limit on when you need to reach the minimum redemption threshold.

TESLA CONNECTION
Is my Tesla data safe?

Absolutely. Your Tesla credentials are never shared with us. We use OAuth 2.0 PKCE, which means you authenticate directly with Tesla and we receive only a limited-access token. All tokens are encrypted using AES-256-GCM before storage, and our database is protected by Row Level Security (RLS) policies.

What data do you access from my Tesla?

We access your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) for verification, charging session data including energy delivered and timestamps, and GPS coordinates during active charging only for geofence verification. We do not access your driving data, cabin camera data, or any vehicle controls. GPS location is collected at a maximum of every 15 minutes only while the vehicle is awake and actively charging — when the vehicle is not charging or is asleep, no location data is retained (it is destroyed on receipt). See our Privacy Policy Section 2.8 for full details on our charging-only GPS retention policy.

Can I disconnect my Tesla anytime?

Yes, you can disconnect your Tesla at any time from within the Telemiq app or through your Tesla account settings. When you disconnect, we permanently delete all stored OAuth tokens immediately. You can reconnect later if you choose to resume using the service.

How do I revoke Telemiq's access from my Tesla account?

Login to Tesla on the web only (not the app). Go to tesla.com/account, then Account Settings → Security → Third Party Apps, find Telemiq in the list, and click Manage to disconnect or revoke access. This immediately invalidates our access tokens. No action is needed in the Telemiq app — your data will stop syncing automatically.

How do I connect my charger to Telemiq?

Tap "Connect with Tesla" on the Connect page. You will be redirected to Tesla's official login portal (auth.tesla.com) where you authenticate directly with Tesla. After granting permission, your wall connectors and vehicles are automatically detected. The entire process takes less than a minute if your charger is already linked to your Tesla account.

Can I connect multiple chargers?

Yes, Telemiq supports multiple wall connectors on a single account. If you have more than one Tesla Wall Connector registered in your Tesla account, all of them will appear on the Connect page after linking. Each charger is tracked independently, and all home charging sessions from any connected charger qualify for rewards.

My wall connector is not showing up on the Connect page.

Ensure your wall connector is properly set up in the Tesla app under "My Home" and that it appears in your Tesla account's device list. It can take up to 24 hours for a newly installed charger to appear. If it still does not show up, try disconnecting and reconnecting your Tesla account from the Connect page. For persistent issues, contact us at info@telemiq.io.

I connected my charger and charged my Tesla but I do not see any data on the Charging page.

Charging data is typically synced within 24 hours of a completed session. First, verify the session appears in your Tesla app under "Charge History." Make sure your charger shows the OWNER badge on the Connect page, as only owner-registered chargers earn rewards. If data still does not appear after 24 hours, contact us at info@telemiq.io.

Why do I need to connect my vehicle to the program?

We are required to verify certain vehicle parameters such as make, model, and VIN for regulatory compliance under Canada's Clean Fuel Regulations. Connecting your vehicle allows us to automatically detect charging sessions and verify they occurred at your registered home address, eliminating the need for manual reporting.

How does Telemiq connect to my Tesla account?

Telemiq connects through Tesla's official authentication portal. When you tap "Connect with Tesla," you are redirected to auth.tesla.com where you log in directly with your Tesla credentials. Telemiq never sees or stores your Tesla password — we receive only a limited-access token through the OAuth 2.0 protocol with PKCE encryption. You can revoke access at any time from your Tesla account settings.

What permissions does Telemiq request from my Tesla account?

Telemiq requests three read-only data permissions plus the two standard OAuth scopes needed for authentication. Specifically: (1) Vehicle Information (vehicle_device_data) — your vehicle's live charging data (kWh, power, charge state); (2) Vehicle Location (vehicle_location) — GPS coordinates to verify charging happens at your registered home address (required for CFR compliance); (3) Energy Product Information (energy_device_data) — Wall Connector live status. We also request vehicle_charging_cmds, which is a technical requirement for Tesla's Fleet Telemetry configuration — it allows us to set up the telemetry data stream. Telemiq does NOT use this scope to send any charge start/stop or control commands. We never request Profile Information or Vehicle Specs. Telemiq cannot control your vehicle in any way — we only read charging data. You can review and revoke access at any time in your Tesla account settings.

What is the telemetry virtual key (digital key)?

The telemetry virtual key is a digital authorization that allows your Tesla vehicle to push real-time charging data directly to Telemiq's server. It is paired through Tesla's official app-key system (https://www.tesla.com/_ak/www.telemiq.io). Once paired, your vehicle continuously streams charging data — even while asleep — without requiring Telemiq to repeatedly poll the Tesla API. This is separate from your OAuth login: the OAuth connection lets us request data from Tesla's servers, while the virtual key lets your vehicle push data to us directly. Mobile Connector users must pair the virtual key to earn rewards. Wall Connector users are already eligible — telemetry is optional but recommended for faster session detection. The virtual key must be approved individually for each vehicle on your account.

Why do I need to link the telemetry virtual key?

The telemetry virtual key serves three critical purposes: (1) Automatic session detection — your vehicle pushes charging data to us in real-time, so sessions are detected within minutes instead of hours. (2) CFR compliance — the vehicle's Battery Management System (BMS) acts as an accredited sub-meter, providing tamper-proof energy readings that meet Environment and Climate Change Canada's Clean Fuel Regulations requirements. The telemetry stream provides the audit-ready data trail needed for credit verification. (3) Works while asleep — telemetry streams continue even when your vehicle is parked and asleep, with near-zero battery drain. Wall Connector users are automatically eligible for rewards without telemetry. Mobile Connector users must pair the virtual key to earn rewards — without it, sessions may be missed or delayed.

What data does the telemetry virtual key access?

The virtual key grants read-only access to these specific data streams: (1) Charge state — whether the vehicle is plugged in, actively charging, and the current charging rate in kW. (2) Battery state of charge (SOC) — the percentage of battery charge before, during, and after charging. (3) Energy delivered — total kWh added during a charging session. (4) Vehicle location (GPS) — coordinates recorded at a maximum of every 15 minutes, only while the vehicle is awake and charging. When the vehicle is not charging, GPS data is immediately destroyed and never stored. (5) Odometer reading — for compliance reporting. (6) Vehicle connectivity status — online, asleep, or offline. Telemiq does NOT access driving data, driving routes, speeds, cabin camera data, tire pressure, trip history, or any data when you are not charging. Non-charging GPS is destroyed on receipt — we never build a location history of where your vehicle has been.

Can Telemiq control my car through the virtual key?

Absolutely not. The virtual key is strictly read-only — it only allows your vehicle to send data TO our server. Telemiq cannot unlock doors, start the vehicle, activate climate control, honk the horn, open the trunk/frunk, or issue any commands whatsoever. Even though our API includes the vehicle_charging_cmds scope (required by Tesla to configure the telemetry channel), we never send any control commands. The key exists solely to receive charging data. You can verify this yourself: Tesla's virtual key system clearly shows what permissions each key has, and Telemiq's key is listed as a telemetry/data key, not a driving key.

How is the telemetry virtual key different from my OAuth Tesla login?

They are two separate things that work together: (1) The OAuth login (when you tap "Connect with Tesla" and enter your Tesla credentials on auth.tesla.com) authorizes Telemiq to request data from Tesla's servers via API calls. This is a pull model — we ask Tesla for your data. (2) The telemetry virtual key (when you pair via https://www.tesla.com/_ak/www.telemiq.io) authorizes your vehicle to push data directly to our server in real-time. This is a push model — your car sends data to us automatically. Both are needed: the OAuth connection identifies your account and vehicles, while the virtual key enables the fast, reliable telemetry stream that powers automatic session detection and rewards crediting.

How do I remove the telemetry virtual key?

You can remove the virtual key at any time through your Tesla app: go to your vehicle, tap Manage, then Locks, find the "www.telemiq.io" key, and remove it. You can also manage keys via Tesla Account > Security on the web. Removing the key stops all telemetry streaming immediately — your vehicle will no longer push data to Telemiq. Your OAuth connection remains active, so we can still poll for charging data via the API, but sessions may be detected with delays. To fully disconnect, use the Disconnect button on the Telemiq Connect page.

Do you access my household energy usage?

No. Telemiq only receives data from your connected Tesla wall connector and vehicle — specifically charging session energy (kWh), timestamps, and GPS coordinates during charging. We have no access to your household electricity meter, utility bill data, or overall home energy consumption. Your home energy usage remains completely private.

How do I revoke Telemiq's access from my Tesla account?

Login to Tesla on the web only (not the app). Go to https://www.tesla.com/en_ca/, then Account Settings → Security → Third Party Apps, find Telemiq in the list, and click Manage to disconnect or revoke access. This immediately invalidates our access tokens. No action is needed in the Telemiq app — your data will stop syncing automatically.

Why is my dashboard asking me to update Tesla permissions?

If your Tesla account is missing the vehicle_location permission, we cannot verify that your vehicle is charging at your registered home address. Without GPS proof, charging sessions cannot earn rewards (carbon credit compliance requirement). To fix: go to Telemiq Settings → Reconnect Tesla Account, and make sure ALL permission boxes are checked on the Tesla consent screen. If reconnect doesn't work, first revoke access at tesla.com → Account Settings → Security → Third Party Apps, then reconnect via Telemiq.

What if I have multiple Teslas?

Telemiq currently supports one Tesla vehicle per account. If you have multiple Teslas, you can choose which one to connect. We recommend connecting the vehicle you charge most frequently at home to maximize your rewards. Support for multiple vehicles may be added in the future.

GEOFENCE
What is geofence verification?

Geofence verification is how we confirm that your charging sessions happen at your registered home address. When you charge, we compare the GPS coordinates from your Tesla with your home location using the Haversine formula. Sessions that fall within the geofence radius (500m) qualify for rewards.

How do I set my home location?

During setup, you'll be prompted to set your home location by entering your address or dropping a pin on a map. This becomes your geofence center point. You can update your home location at any time through Settings > Home Location if you move or need to adjust it.

What if I charge at a friend's house?

Sessions outside your registered home geofence still earn points (standard rate), but they don't count as verified home charging for carbon credit purposes. The geofence is tied to your home address specifically to maintain the integrity of our home charging verification system.

What if I move?

Simply update your home location in the app settings. Your new address will become the geofence center point going forward. Previous sessions at your old address that have already been verified will remain credited to your account. There's no penalty for moving.

Does Telemiq track my car's location 24/7?

No. Telemiq does not conduct continuous GPS tracking. Vehicle location data is received from Tesla Fleet Telemetry at a maximum of every 15 minutes, and only while the vehicle is awake. Here's what actually happens: (1) While driving — the vehicle is awake, so Tesla may send GPS coordinates every 15 minutes. However, Telemiq immediately DESTROYS any GPS data received when the vehicle is not actively charging — it is never stored in our database or server memory. (2) When parked and asleep — the vehicle enters sleep mode within 10–15 minutes of parking. Tesla ceases ALL telemetry transmission. Nothing is sent — no GPS, no data. (3) While charging — the vehicle is awake, GPS is received every 15 minutes, and this data IS retained because it serves as proof that charging occurred at your registered home address for carbon credit compliance. The only GPS data we keep is from active charging sessions. We never build a location history, never track driving routes, and never know where your car goes. See our Privacy Policy Section 2.8 for full technical details.

Why do you need my GPS at all?

GPS location during charging is a regulatory requirement under Canada's Clean Fuel Regulations (CFR). Carbon credits can only be issued for charging that is verified to have occurred at the participant's registered home address. The GPS coordinate recorded during your charging session is the audit proof that an ECCC verifier or third-party auditor would examine to confirm the charging happened at home — not at a Supercharger, workplace, or public station. Without this location proof, no carbon credits can be generated and no rewards can be paid. The GPS data is retained for 7 years as part of the compliance audit trail, as required by federal regulations.

What happens to my GPS data when I'm not charging?

It is immediately destroyed. Our server uses a three-layer privacy protection system: (1) DROP — when a GPS coordinate arrives and the vehicle is not charging (no power flow, no charging state), the data is discarded instantly before it ever reaches our database or server memory. (2) GATE — GPS is only stored in temporary server memory when charging signals are detected simultaneously, preventing driving locations from being captured. (3) PURGE — any remaining in-memory vehicle state is automatically deleted every 5 minutes if no charging activity has occurred in the past 30 minutes. The result: zero non-charging location data is ever stored. We do not know where you drive, where you park, or where you go. The only location we retain is the coordinate from your charging session.

WITHDRAWALS
How do I cash out?

You can redeem your charging points once the associated carbon credits have been successfully verified and approved by the applicable regulatory authority, which occurs in Q1 of the following year. Navigate to the Wallet section and tap "Redeem" to request your Interac e-Transfer.

What's the minimum withdrawal amount?

The minimum redemption is 10,000 points from home charging (C$100.00). Only points earned from actual charging sessions count toward this threshold — referral bonuses and promotional credits are locked until you reach 10,000 charging points. Once the threshold is met, all your points can be redeemed together via Interac e-Transfer after the annual Q1 carbon credit audit (January–March) under Canada's Clean Fuel Regulations.

How long does an Interac e-Transfer take?

Most Interac e-Transfers are processed within 1–3 business days. Once processed, you'll receive an email from Interac with instructions to deposit the funds into your bank account. The actual deposit is usually instant after you accept the transfer.

Are there any withdrawal fees?

No, there are no fees for withdrawing your earnings. The full amount you request is sent to you via Interac e-Transfer. Telemiq covers all transaction processing costs on our end.

What email address do I use for Interac?

Use the email address associated with your Canadian bank account that accepts Interac e-Transfer Autodeposit. If your bank doesn't have Autodeposit set up, you'll receive a security question and answer via the email you provide. Make sure the email is correct to avoid delays.

Why can't I redeem my points immediately?

Points are tied to carbon credits under Canada's Clean Fuel Regulations. The regulatory authority verifies and approves these credits during Q1 of the following year. Once verified, your points become available for redemption. This annual cycle ensures compliance with federal carbon credit aggregation rules.

When is the annual verification?

The carbon credit audit takes place in Q1 (January–March) of each year. Once the regulatory authority completes its review and approves the credits, your verified points will be available for redemption. You'll receive a notification when your points are verified.

What's the difference between pending and verified points?

Pending points are earned from your charging sessions throughout the year. They appear in your balance but cannot be redeemed yet. Verified points have been confirmed through the annual Q1 carbon credit audit (January–March of the following year) and are available for Interac e-Transfer redemption.

REFERRALS & PROMO CODES
How does the referral program work?

Share your unique referral code with friends. When they sign up and enter your referral code within 5 business days of creating their account, the referral link is established. Once they accumulate 2,500 kWh of verified home charging (10,000 points / C$100.00), you both receive a $5.00 CAD bonus. There's no limit to how many people you can refer — the more, the better.

How do I enter a referral code?

You can enter a referral code in two ways: (1) During registration using the referral link shared by your friend, or (2) After signing up, enter the code in the "Promo or Referral Code" section on your Telemiq dashboard. The code must be entered within 5 business days of creating your account to qualify for the new-account referral bonus.

What is the 5 business day rule?

To be eligible for the referral bonus, you must enter a referral code within 5 business days of creating your account. This counts only business days (Monday–Friday, excluding weekends and statutory holidays). If you enter a referral code after this window, the referral link is still recorded but your account is marked as an "existing account" and is not eligible for the referral bonus. This rule exists to ensure referrals are genuine new users.

Can I use both a promo code and a referral code?

No, you can only use one code — either a promo code (like BLITZ500) or a referral code. Once you redeem either type, the code input is permanently removed from your dashboard. Choose the one that benefits you most.

When do we get the $5 bonus?

The $5.00 CAD bonus is credited to both you and your referee once they reach 2,500 kWh of verified home charging (10,000 points / C$100.00). This takes several months of regular home charging. You'll both receive a notification when the bonus is applied to your balances.

Is there a limit on referrals?

No, there's no limit on how many people you can refer or how many $5.00 bonuses you can earn. Each qualifying referral earns both you and your friend $5.00 CAD. However, each person can only be referred once, and self-referrals are not permitted.

Can I refer non-Tesla owners?

The referral program is designed for Tesla owners since Telemiq requires a connected Tesla vehicle. If someone you refer doesn't own a Tesla, they won't be able to complete the setup process and the referral won't qualify for the bonus.

What counts toward the 2,500 kWh threshold?

Only verified home charging sessions count toward the 2,500 kWh referral threshold. Away-from-home sessions do not contribute. The referee must accumulate 2,500 kWh of qualifying home charging to trigger the bonus.

I referred my friend but did not receive the referral bonus. What happened?

Referral bonuses are credited after your friend signs up, enters your referral code within 5 business days, and completes 2,500 kWh of verified home charging (10,000 points / C$100.00). Common reasons for not receiving the bonus: your friend entered the code after the 5 business day window, they didn't use your exact referral code, or they haven't reached 2,500 kWh yet. Contact us at info@telemiq.io and we will investigate.

How do promo codes work?

Promo codes (like BLITZ500) give you an instant points bonus when redeemed on your dashboard. Each promo code can only be used once per account. After redeeming, the code input is permanently removed. Promo codes cannot be combined with referral codes — you must choose one.

I already redeemed BLITZ500. Can I still use a referral code?

No. Once you've used a promo code, the code input is permanently removed and you cannot enter a referral code. Similarly, if you've already used a referral code, you cannot redeem a promo code. You can only use one code total per account.

TAXES
Are rewards taxable?

Rewards earned through Telemiq may be considered taxable income under Canadian tax law. The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) treats various types of rewards and incentives differently depending on the circumstances. We recommend consulting a qualified tax professional for advice specific to your situation.

Will I get a T4A slip?

Telemiq may issue T4A slips for qualifying users as required by CRA regulations. If a T4A is issued, it will be sent to you by the required deadline. We'll notify you in advance if you'll be receiving one. Not all users will necessarily receive a T4A — it depends on the total amount earned.

How do I report this on my taxes?

You are responsible for reporting your Telemiq earnings in accordance with CRA requirements. If you receive a T4A, include it with your tax return as indicated. If you don't receive a T4A but earned rewards, consult a tax professional about whether and how to report the income.

CARBON CREDITS
What are carbon credits?

Carbon credits are tradeable certificates that represent a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. Under Canada's Clean Fuel Regulations (CFR), electricity used to charge electric vehicles generates credits because it displaces fossil fuel consumption. These credits can be sold to companies that need to meet regulatory compliance targets.

Why does Telemiq collect them?

Individual EV owners can't access the carbon credit market on their own — it requires aggregation, verification, and reporting infrastructure. Telemiq aggregates charging data across our community to generate CFR-compliant credits through Telemiq's ECCC registration as a Charging Network Operator, and monetizes those credits. The revenue funds the rewards you earn and keeps the platform free.

How does this help the environment?

By rewarding home charging, Telemiq incentivizes more EV adoption and more electric driving. Every kWh charged at home using grid electricity displaces gasoline consumption. At a rate of 0.404 kg CO2 per kWh (displacement methodology — accounts for the full well-to-wheels CO₂ reduction of replacing gasoline with electricity), the cumulative impact across our community makes a measurable difference in Canada's carbon emissions.

What's the CO2 offset rate?

We use 0.404 kg of CO2 offset per kWh, which is a displacement methodology — the estimated CO₂ reduction from replacing gasoline with electricity for driving across Canada, accounting for the national marginal grid emissions, transmission losses, and vehicle efficiency differences. This is not the average grid generation emission factor (which varies by province, ranging from ~30 g/kWh in hydro/nuclear-dominated regions to ~700 g/kWh in coal-dependent regions), but instead represents the total lifecycle CO₂ avoided by driving an EV instead of a gasoline car. For example, if you charge 50 kWh, that displaces approximately 20.2 kg of CO₂ compared to driving a gas vehicle.

As a charger owner, why can I not just generate my own carbon credits?

Under Canada's Clean Fuel Regulations, residential EV charging must be registered and reported through a registered Charging Network Operator. Individual home charger owners cannot independently register or generate credits within the federal program. Telemiq is a registered Charging Network Operator with Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC). Telemiq aggregates your verified home charging data to generate CFR-compliant credits and passes the revenue back to you as rewards.

Can I join if I have my own private charging site?

Private charging site owners may be eligible to participate if they have control over a compatible Tesla charging site that can be securely connected to Telemiq. To register as a private site owner, please contact us at info@telemiq.io with details about your setup and we will evaluate your eligibility on a case-by-case basis.

What's the math behind carbon credits and my rewards?

Here's how your home charging converts into rewards: Each kWh of verified home charging displaces ~0.404 kg of CO₂ (displacement methodology — accounts for the gasoline not burned by driving electric). That CO₂ reduction generates a compliance credit under the Clean Fuel Regulations. Credits are aggregated across all Telemiq members and sold to fuel suppliers needing compliance. The revenue funds your reward (up to 5 pts/kWh in Telemetry Mode, 4 pts/kWh in Standard Mode). For a typical member charging ~600 kWh/month in Standard Mode: that's 2,400 pts/month earned (C$24), ~242 kg CO₂ offset per month, ~2.9 tonnes CO₂ per year.

How are my rewards funded from carbon credit sales?

Your rewards are funded in part by the sale of carbon credits generated from your verified home charging data. Under Canada's Clean Fuel Regulations, the trading price of carbon credits fluctuates based on market supply and demand. Telemiq uses the revenue from credit sales to: (1) pay you up to 5 points per kWh (C$0.05/kWh in Telemetry Mode; C$0.04/kWh in Standard Mode), (2) cover program operating costs (verification infrastructure, compliance audits, platform maintenance, support), and (3) reinvest in community programs and events. The value of your rewards is fixed at up to 5 pts/kWh (Telemetry Mode) or 4 pts/kWh (Standard Mode) regardless of carbon credit market prices — you're never exposed to market fluctuations.

How is Telemiq different from selling carbon credits myself?

Individual home charger owners cannot independently participate in the Clean Fuel Regulations credit market. The CFR requires registration as a Charging Network Operator, continuous compliance reporting, third-party data verification, and annual audits — all of which require specialized infrastructure and regulatory expertise that's impractical for a single homeowner. Telemiq provides this infrastructure and regulatory compliance framework as a service. In exchange, you receive up to 5 pts/kWh (Telemetry Mode) or 4 pts/kWh (Standard Mode) guaranteed, without the cost, complexity, or market risk of attempting CFR participation on your own. The trade-off is that the credit sale price is typically higher than the reward rate, but the difference covers the operational and regulatory costs.

TECHNICAL
What chargers work with Telemiq?

Telemiq supports all Tesla AC charging equipment: the Gen 3 Wall Connector, Universal Wall Connector, and Mobile Connector. Through Fleet Telemetry, your Tesla's Battery Management System serves as the accredited sub-meter — so even the Mobile Connector produces verifiable, audit-ready data. As long as eligibility requirements are met — Wall Connector enrolled, OR telemetry paired with home location set — and the session occurs at your registered home address, it qualifies for rewards. ⚠️ Important: If you use a non-Tesla charging station (ChargePoint, FLO, Grizzl-E, etc.) that offers its own carbon credit or clean energy rebate program, your charger provider may already be claiming carbon credits for your sessions. The same charging data cannot be claimed by two programs — you must confirm your charger does not independently claim carbon credits before enrolling in Telemiq. See the Charging Agreement for full terms.

Why was my session flagged?

Sessions may be flagged by our anomaly detection system for several reasons: GPS coordinates outside your geofence, unusual energy delivery patterns, overlapping sessions, or data inconsistencies. A flagged session doesn't always mean fraud — it just means our system needs to verify the data. You can appeal if you believe it was flagged incorrectly.

What if my charging data seems wrong?

If you notice discrepancies in your charging data or rewards, contact us at info@telemiq.io with the session details. We can review the raw data from the Tesla Fleet API and correct any errors. Data issues are rare but can occur due to API delays or syncing errors.

How often is data synced from my Tesla?

Charging data is synced automatically through the Tesla Fleet API, typically within minutes of a session completing. During Tesla's maintenance windows or network issues, there may be delays. If data hasn't appeared within 24 hours of a session, please contact support.

ACCOUNT
How do I delete my account?

You can request account deletion through the app settings or by emailing us at info@telemiq.io. Upon deletion, we will permanently erase your Tesla OAuth tokens, disconnect your vehicle, and remove your personal data in accordance with our data retention schedule.

What happens to pending rewards?

If you have a balance of 10,000 verified points (C$100.00) or more at the time of deletion, we recommend redeeming before proceeding. Unverified points (those not yet confirmed through the annual Q1 carbon credit audit) and balances below the 10,000 point minimum redemption threshold will be forfeited upon account deletion, as we cannot process Interac e-Transfers for unverified or insufficient balances.

Can I rejoin after deleting my account?

Yes, you can create a new Telemiq account at any time. However, your previous reward history, transaction records, and referral relationships cannot be restored. You'll start fresh as a new user. Note that any referral codes from your previous account will no longer be active.
